March 25: The Landscape Industry Certified Technician Program:

Just as landscape architects have, and continue to, advocate for professional licensure to improve the quality of our built environment and value of our profession, the contractor side of the industry is pushing for certification for the same reasons. Hiring a Landscape Industry Certified professional will help insure that the person working with you has a very high level of knowledge and competency and involving a Certified Landscape Technician (CLT) will give your project the best chance of success.

Please join us as we learn about the value that the Landscape Industry Certified Technican Program can bring to the work in which Landscape Architects are involved. The presentation will focus on the Certified Technician Program, part of the certification program that is being offered by the Professional Landcare Network (PLANET), an international association serving lawn care professionals, landscape management contractors, design/build/installation professionals, and interior plantscapers. The Mid America Green Industry Council (MAGIC), is the Kansas and Missouri provider for the certification. Our presenter, Frank Male, received a Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture from Kansas State University in 1985 and is a member of the WESTERN Nursery and Landscape Association. Frank was the first professional in Kansas to achieve the designation of both Certified Landscape Professional (CLP) and Certified Landscape Technician (CLT) from PLANET. As Production Manager for Lawrence Landscapes, Frank schedules crews for residential and commercial landscape installation, as well as irrigation installation and maintenance.

This is a brown bag event.  Please feel free to bring your own lunch.
